This page is devoted to my art work...some older drawings, and some more recent scribblings. These reproductions don't show all the detail, but we think they are good enough to give you an idea.
Most of my subject matter is the same...elkhounds. But occasionally I do 'branch out' into different breeds, and I've chosen to showcase a few of those on this page.
My media of choice is pencil, now and then I work in pen and ink, or pastel pencil. I generally strive for realism, although I have done a few cartoonish or stylistic works.
Many of my drawings have been published in various Norwegian Elkhound books, magazines and newsletters.
Some have been designed primarily for use in our notecards to be given as 'trophies' at our AKC club's shows, or for raffle gifts at our UKC club's shows. Some have been donated for fund raisers at specialties, and we do sell at reasonable prices to those interested.
We will also sell computer generated prints at equally reasonable prices. Some of the pictures below have been PhotoSuite enhanced to darken them for this page. My pencil drawings tend to be light and soft unless enhanced and we can print them either way the buyer desires.
Here are a few examples of other breeds. The drawings below have been made into notecards.
This is a very old pen& ink that has been seen in several elkie publications. It is quite detailed and you may notice my signature is different.
This is also the drawing we use on our "business" cards.
"Venus" and "Norton" (Alpha's Heavenly Body & Ch./SKC Ch. Alpha's Notorious) "posed" for this picture when they were pudgy, 8 month old puppies.
I can only think of one thing more difficult than a Shar Pei, and that would be a smooth-coated BLACK dog.
Meet "Willie"! I did his portrait from a gorgeous picture this AmStaff's owner sent me, and she says it looks just like him.
All of this work is a joint effort between my husband and myself. I do the actual drawings, but Richard scans them and does the magic that can turn them into our professional looking notecards. I take his scanned work and put it on this webpage.

Back to the elkhounds, here's another "oldie" and this one IS from an easily recognized picture. Most old time elkhound breeders would remember the photo this was drawing from. This is a quickie sketch, not nearly as detailed as the previous drawings.
This Shar Pei was TOUGH!! My first attempt at wrinkles!
Here's a lovely English Cocker. The owner was kind enough to send me some exquisite pictures for my use.
